Central Plant/Utility Infastructure

Long Beach Community College
Long Beach, California

Rachlin Partners provided full architectural and engineering services for a new Central Plant, including integration and upgrade of the utility infrastructure M/E/P and site development and landscaping at the Liberal Arts campus of Long Beach City College. The success of this project depended on containing costs and optimizing equipment layouts, but also on ensuring that work was planned, phased and carried out without disrupting students, staff or the ongoing operation of campus buildings and facilities.

The scope of work included design of a modern Central Plant (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, piping), plus new mechanical systems (piping, HVAC, drainage), electrical systems (cables, panels, lighting, power, transformers) and a new data / telecommunications system. We also patched and repaired site conditions throughout the Liberal Arts campus.
