District Offices Modernization

Los Alamitos Unified School District
Los Alamitos, California

The Los Alamitos Unified School District selected Rachlin Partners to provide Architectural services, along with Program and Project/Construction Management for an extensive district-wide modernization program. Made possible by voter-approved Measure K funds, this $163 million program encompassed 10 campuses within the school district, each requiring skillful management of phased construction and renovation schedules.

Rachlin Partners also completed a comprehensive upgrade of the District Offices. Constructed in the latter part of the 1950’s as a school site, the site consists of a campus administration building, classroom and district administration buildings, and the daycare and maintenance/storage building. The original campus administration building features a distinctive barrel-vaulted roof with clerestory windows. While the original brick masonry walls were in good condition, moist air, termite damage and age had seriously degraded the buildings wood walls – a critical structural concern. When work concluded in 2016, Rachlin Partners had upgraded or replaced every major element of the building, preparing the facility to serve the District well for decades to come.
