Los Alamitos High School Track & Field

Los Alamitos Unified School District
Los Alamitos, California

The original campus of Los Alamitos High School was constructed in the early 1960’s, equipped with a decomposed granite track surface and natural grass field, which proved to be unusable during the winter months due to flooding. So the school’s athletic teams had to travel to other campuses for practice and sporting events.

Working with the School District and surrounding community, we were able to build consensus to provide a state-of-the-art track and field facility consisting of a synthetic all-weather track, a synthetic playing field, 1,200-seat bleacher system and a Musco sports lighting system. The new sports field accommodates football, soccer and lacrosse with provisions for long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and discus.

Completion of this project marks a turning point for the Los Alamitos Unified School District, allowing students to play all sports on the home field year-round. Additional amenities include new entrance gates, an electronic scoreboard and a capacious 90,000-gallon underground water-retention system.

The project was constructed using the Lease-Leaseback delivery method and delivered on time and on budget.
